About us

 

The International Relations Department of Rio de Janeiro's City Hall is part of the Mayor's Office and is located in Palácio da Cidade, Botafogo. It is the municipal department responsible for assisting the Mayor in the planning and execution of public policies relating to international cooperation.

 

This department acts as a facilitator for international projects between City Hall and the municipal, state and federal departments, identifying opportunities and monitoring international cooperation initiatives in various areas, such as: urban sustainable development, knowledge and innovation, social inclusion and accessibility. It is the main interlocutor between City Hall and the consular offices, diplomatic delegations and regional and multilateral authorities, as well as international city networks. It is also responsible for organizing or supporting international authorities during their visit to Rio de Janeiro.

 

The International Relations Department is composed of the following divisions: Multilateral Cooperation; Bilateral Cooperation; Institutional Relations; Planning and Management; and Delegation and Events.
